“Grief Turns Out To Be A Place None Of Knows Until We Reach It.” Joan Didion
Welcome To SeaHolly Counseling & Wellness!
When I was a little girl if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said, “a teacher” or “a ballet dancer.” As I followed life’s path through my young adult years, I eventually began to understand how much I enjoyed listening to people and simply being present in the moment to help them. This was when I first started to dream about one day opening a private practice in counseling.
My journey in becoming a Practice Owner was not straight forward. I experienced unexpected losses and grief in my 30’s that had a profound impact on me. Through my own healing and growth process, both personally and professionally, I eventually came to this place in life where I am now. I am not only ready to create SeaHolly Counseling & Wellness, but am excited and have a deeper understanding of how Grief Counseling is a calling in life. It is not something just anyone can be comfortable with. It is a specialty. I believe people who experience grief, loss and difficult life transitions deserve a specialized kind of attention and care.
It is a great honor and privilege to do this work that I do. I am so grateful for all those who have supported and believed in me over the years. Without my amazing mother, my father, my sister, my best friend and my husband I would not be here. I love them all very much and I look forward to helping you along your own personal journey in healing and seeing what new experiences you may have along the way!
My Approach
My approach centers on knowing each of my clients for who they are and what matters most to them. I believe we are all trying to make our way in this world and do the best we can. I welcome the opportunity to create a collaborative, therapeutic relationship with my clients that assumes you as the expert on yourself…I am simply your guide.
Narrative Therapy
When someone enters the healing space of my office, I consider this to be a sacred opportunity for them to share their story. Sharing a story, not just once, but often many times, is a way to help bring meaning to a difficult experience and find healing after trauma. I use other common modalities of therapy as well, such as Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused and Mindfulness Based, but Narrative Therapy is one of my favorites.
